Legal
Terms of Service
1. About these terms
These terms are the agreement between you and [LEGAL ENTITY NAME] ("Miiitime", "we", "us") for using the Miiitime app and website.
By using Miiitime you agree to these terms. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal information. If you don't agree to these terms, please don't use Miiitime.
Miiitime is currently free to use.
2. Who can use Miiitime
- You must be at least [MINIMUM AGE] years old to use Miiitime.
- You must be at least [MINIMUM AGE FOR PARTIES] years old to host or join a craft party, or to use party chat, because parties involve meeting people in person.
- You can't use Miiitime if we've previously suspended or removed you, unless we've agreed otherwise.
3. Your account and party codes
- An account is optional. If you create one, keep your sign-in details secure, and give accurate information.
- You're responsible for what happens through your account and your devices. Tell us if you think someone else has used your account.
- When you host or join a party, Miiitime saves a private code on your device that lets you manage the party or your sign-up. Anyone who gets that code could act for you, so don't share it.
4. Your content and who owns it
4.1 You own your content
"Your content" means anything you create or add in Miiitime: patterns, charts, projects, photos, notes, yarn and swatch records, party details, announcements, chat messages and your profile. You keep ownership of your content. We don't claim ownership of your patterns or anything else you make.
4.2 The permission you give us
To run Miiitime we need your permission to handle your content. You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to store, copy, sync, format and display your content, and to send it to the people you choose to share it with. We use this licence only to operate, maintain and improve Miiitime for you, and only for as long as your content is on Miiitime (plus any limited time it stays in backups). It doesn't let us sell your content, publish it elsewhere, or use your patterns for any other purpose. Our service providers can use it only to help us run Miiitime.
4.3 Content you choose to make visible
Some features show your content to other people. You decide when that happens:
- Public parties can be seen by anyone using Miiitime's Explore search. Parties that aren't public can be opened by anyone with their join code or link.
- Party chat is seen by the host and guests of that party.
- Shared pattern links can be opened by anyone with the link until you stop sharing.
When you use these features, the licence in 4.2 includes showing that content to those people. You can stop sharing a pattern, delete a party you host, or delete your chat messages at any time. We can't control copies other people have already made, for example screenshots.
4.4 Other people's patterns
Many patterns are protected by copyright. Importing a pattern you've bought or been given, so you can follow it yourself, is a personal use. Only share a pattern, or put content in a party or chat, if it's yours or you have permission. Don't use Miiitime to redistribute paid or copyrighted patterns without the designer's permission.
4.5 You're responsible for your content
You confirm that you have the rights to the content you share through Miiitime, and that it follows these terms and the law.
5. Community rules
Miiitime is for making things and meeting other crafters. We have no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour. Don't use Miiitime to post, send or organise:
- harassment, bullying, threats or intimidation of anyone;
- hate speech, or content that attacks people because of a protected characteristic;
- sexual or sexually suggestive content, or anything that sexualises minors;
- violent, graphic or self-harm content;
- anything illegal, or that promotes illegal activity;
- other people's personal information without their permission;
- impersonation of another person or organisation;
- scams, spam, or unsolicited advertising;
- fake parties, or parties organised for any purpose other than a genuine craft meetup;
- content that infringes someone else's copyright or other rights.
You also must not:
- try to access other people's accounts, parties, codes or data;
- interfere with, overload or attack Miiitime or its providers;
- scrape or bulk-collect data from Miiitime;
- use Miiitime in a way that breaks the law.
6. Craft parties and meeting in person
6.1 Our role
Craft parties are organised by users, not by Miiitime. We provide the tools to create, find and join them. We don't organise, supervise, attend or check parties, venues, hosts or guests, and we don't verify anyone's identity, background or behaviour.
6.2 If you host
- Give accurate details about the date, time and venue, and keep them up to date.
- Choose a suitable venue, and make sure you're allowed to hold a gathering there.
- If plans change or you cancel, update or delete the party in Miiitime so guests are told.
- Treat guests with respect and follow these terms.
6.3 Staying safe
You're responsible for your own safety and your decisions about meeting people. We recommend that you:
- choose a public, well-populated venue such as a café, park or community centre;
- consider bringing a friend, or having one help you host, when meeting new people for the first time;
- stay aware of your surroundings and trust your instincts. You can change or cancel plans at any time if something feels wrong;
- don't share more personal information than you need to.
If you're in danger, contact the emergency services. Please also tell us about any behaviour that breaks these terms (see section 8).
To the extent the law allows, Miiitime isn't responsible for what happens at a party or for the conduct of any host or guest. Nothing in this section limits the responsibilities described in section 14.
7. Party chat
- Party chat is for the host and guests of that party to coordinate and chat. The community rules in section 5 apply.
- Chat isn't end-to-end encrypted. Don't share sensitive personal information in it.
- Hosts can delete messages in their party's chat. We may remove messages that break these terms.
- If you leave a party, messages you've already sent stay in the chat unless you delete them first, or the host deletes them.
8. Reporting and how we respond
To report a party, a message, a shared pattern or a person that breaks these terms, contact us at create@miiitime.com. Include the party name or link, and what happened. [UPDATE WHEN IN-APP REPORTING AND BLOCKING ARE AVAILABLE]
We review reports and aim to act within [REPORT RESPONSE TIME]. Depending on what we find, we may remove content, delete a party, restrict features, suspend or close an account, or, where required or appropriate, share information with the police or other authorities.
9. Copyright complaints
If you believe content on Miiitime, such as a shared pattern, infringes your copyright, email create@miiitime.com with:
- your name and contact details;
- the work you believe is being infringed;
- the link to, or a description of, the content on Miiitime;
- a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't authorised, and that the information you've given is accurate and you're the owner or authorised to act for them.
We may remove or disable the content and let the person who posted it know. We may close the accounts of people who repeatedly infringe copyright.
10. Suspension and ending your use
10.1 By you
You can stop using Miiitime at any time. You can delete your account in the app at Settings → Account → Delete Account. Parties, sign-ups and chat messages aren't linked to your account, so please delete parties you host and cancel your sign-ups first. Our Privacy Policy explains exactly what's deleted.
10.2 By us
We may remove content, restrict features, or suspend or close an account if we reasonably believe:
- it breaks these terms or the law;
- it puts other people or Miiitime at risk;
- we have to, for legal reasons.
Where appropriate and safe to do so, we'll tell you why, and you can contact us if you think we've made a mistake. We may also delete parties or content that break these terms even if they aren't linked to an account.
11. Miiitime's own content
The Miiitime app, website, design, logos, stitch symbols and glossary, and other content we provide belong to us or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-transferable permission to use Miiitime for its intended purpose under these terms. Please don't copy, modify or redistribute Miiitime itself.
12. Other services
Miiitime works with services from other companies, including Sign in with Apple, Google Sign-In, and Apple Maps and Google Maps for party locations. Your use of those services is also covered by their own terms and policies. We aren't responsible for them.
13. Availability and changes to Miiitime
We work to keep Miiitime running well, but we can't promise it will always be available or free of errors. We may change, add or remove features. If we plan to stop offering Miiitime, or remove a feature in a way that significantly affects your content, we'll try to give you reasonable notice first.
Keep your own copies of anything important. Data that's only stored on your device can be lost if you delete the app, sign out or lose the device.
14. Our responsibility to you
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that can't be limited or excluded by law. Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer.
Subject to that, and to the extent the law allows:
- we're not responsible for losses that weren't a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms, or that were caused by events outside our reasonable control;
- we're not responsible for the content or conduct of other users, including at parties;
- Miiitime is for personal, non-commercial use, and we aren't liable for any business losses;
- [ANY LIABILITY CAP, IF USED]
15. If you use the iPhone app
If you downloaded Miiitime from Apple's App Store, these terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple isn't responsible for Miiitime or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for it, and isn't responsible for any claims relating to it, including product liability, legal or regulatory compliance, or intellectual property claims. Your use of the app must also follow the App Store's usage rules. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and can enforce them against you. [CONFIRM APPLE MINIMUM EULA TERMS, OR USE APPLE'S STANDARD EULA]
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example when Miiitime changes or the law requires it. We'll change the "Last updated" date. If a change is significant, we'll tell you in the app [OR OTHER NOTIFICATION METHOD] before it takes effect. If you keep using Miiitime after a change takes effect, the new terms apply. If you don't agree, you can stop using Miiitime and delete your account.
17. Governing law
